Loose feeling in the bottom left part of my iphone

normally when you hold the phone tight everything feels secure and NOTHING loose, but the bottom left of my iphone feels loose and squishy like it could fall apart over time. Of course this could easily be addressed by not holding it tight, but I don't feel comfortable with this thing like that! I don't think apple will cover it because they will consider it physical damage, but I think I need to consider a case for my iphone now when I drop it. I have a few times but it's nothing serious...
