I wrote a post on my blog this morning about how this iPhone rumors are just getting on my nerves. It's total BS from tech blogs to generate buzz. It's also a good linkbaiting technique.
Reality is no one knows what the new iPhone is like.

I understand your side of this issue, and sometimes they make me angry as well, but I do feel that they have the right to speculate on issues. I personally find it fun to see rumors before a launch of any sort, and it is a way to keep the interest going for both the product and the posting website. I do think that the rumors do get a bit ridiculous at times, though.

Well, what we do know for sure is that it will have 3G, it will be out in June, it will have GPS, and have the same UI we get with the first version. All these things are known because we can see it in the new 2.0 beta versions. All else is, like you said, speculation....hopefully we'll get some surprises.

Although all of the things you mentioned are very likely, NONE of it is FOR SURE. There could be nothing, they could have tested beta and never done anything about it. Or Apple could be fooling all of ye iPhone v2 wanters.

I think most of the sites are just fishing for hits because they know after the new iPhone is finally released their volume will drop back to normal. Not that EiC falls into that category.

No, I'm sorry, that is just not what business does. They are not going to spend the man hours to implement code just to "trick" people into thinking things. If I'm wrong about this I will gladly buy you the new iphone. These things aren't really guesses at this point......If comments are IN the code and point to GPS functions then we'll get at LEAST A-GPS.

I hate to be a nay-sayer, but there are ways to implement GPS without having it integrated into the handset. My bluetooth GPS receiver, for example, collecting dust on the shelf. I would love for Apple/Google maps to add support for those types of devices in the next version.

I'm making my prediction official: No GPS in the new iPhone, but it will add GPS support via bt/wifi and Apple will sell a slender accessory that will work with both versions of phones. Sorry guys, but I gotta go with my gut.
