Default Laptop connect card?

getting ready to go on a vacation and the hotels charge for internet, i have a iphone 1st gen with unlimited data plan could i pick up a laptop connect card and use it to get online? I don't want to go through ATT to get one.

How do these things work anyway? Do you put your sim card into one to get access?

Default

Typically PCMCIA cellular cards are encoded with their own number. You don't put a SIM in them. You also have to sign at least a 12 month contract for them. I know hotels typically charge $15 or so for internet access, but my connect card costs me $50/month. That's $300 over the 12 month contract. It's going to take you 20 nights in a hotel to make it worth buying a connect card. I think you should consider 1. Most hotels have "courtesy" PCs that you can use for 30 minute increments for free on a first come, first served basis. 2. If you are on 3.0 you can use the iPhone's tethering option for your laptop. The internet is full of articles on how you can get this feature for free on your iPhone.
