Apple's trademark is "styled incompatibility".

It is a sly means by which they create dependence on their software and to lockout competition.

People give Microsoft a hard time for some of their overt schemes, but they don't hold a candle to Apple.

"Drag and drop" would alleviate the need for Itunes, and therefore cut into the means by which Apple is going to make you beholden to their store.

It is the same philosophy that governs Apple's war on third party support for the iphone.

If someone were to implement a drag and drop solution for your phone, rest assured that you would be subsequently and quickly welcomed into the world of Bricked Iphones.

Welcome to the Apple family.

Maybe you'd be happier living in a communist country? Think about it.

Askewed,

Nah, I just have not partaken of the Kool-aid as you may have done. Obviously you are an Apple apologist.

I think in free countries, you are permitted to do as you wish to your own property. I bought the iphone itself, not a license. Nobody should have the right to brick a phone because the owner chooses to install third party software. I think you have communism confused and backwards.

But if it makes you feel better to be offended by my post that you have to respond with a personal attack, I have no quarrel.

You see, it took me a while, but I now completely understand that Apple fans are very sensitive and easily offended and will take issue with almost anything that may seem to make Apple not shine.

I'm not offend at all. And I'm not ignorant to your point of view. But you aren't willing to give any of the respect to the company that your are demanding for yourself. It sounds like to me that you'd be happier living in a place where companies aren't trying to make a profit, get and keep a foot-hold on the market, answer to stockholders and so on.

What you're calling being an "apologist" is nothing more then me seeing both sides.

I think his point is that we aren't living in a communist country. Apple is acting like we are, or worse, a dictatorship.

[hijack]by the way, communism is an economic strategy, not a political or governmental one. But since it pretty much sucks, it requires a communist government to use dictatorial tactics that suppress freedom. Oh, and there are I think only 2 communist countries in the history of mankind, Cuba and I think China. All of the other ones are socialist, even the USSR. Funny, most of the world is in fact socialist, including western Europe. And we called the Russians our enemy just because of communism. What a load of $:@&. That was a strawman if I've ever seen one.
