iPhone Questions (Contract/Text)

Okay...so I'm looking to renew my family plan contract.

My first question is that will I be able to get the 29.99 unlimited family text plan with an iphone since I heard that you cannot get it if you already have text messaging (and all iPlans do!).

Or could I get a Media Data Plan for the iPhone with no texts...and add the family text plan? Or are we limited to select only the iPhone data plans?

I would also like to know if we can pay the $500-600 and not have to sign a new contract THAT DAY. Because my other family members want other phones...so I figure lets get those off a third-party website...then after I have that contract signed up...can I just add my iPhone to that account through the online activation?

All the rate plans are on the apple site. You are mixing plans up.

You do not need separate texting plans.

If you have unlimited family texting, it does not seem that will work with the iPhone, but I am not entirely sure, since you can buy extra text message specifically.

The extended contract is for the iphone line. It does not extend the contract of anything else.

I understand that they want you to pay an extra $10 for 1500 SMS and an extra $20 for Unlimited. However, that would be just for one phone! I would also need to pay for texting on all the other phones on my family plan...it would be much cheaper if the iPhone was compatible with the unlimited family text plan.

I spoke with an AT&T Rep a few days ago: Each phone has their own contract. So...if you renew the contract on your phone now, your daughter can renew hers in a few weeks when she is able to get the phone she wants.
