iPhone Not Vibrating
I've posted this to the Apple Discussions board, but I would like to extend this out to get more feedback.
I bought a new, 4GB iPhone at the Apple Store last Saturday. With everything seeming to be working, I've noticed that the vibrating feature on the phone does not work when I receive calls, text messages, etc. Even if Vibrate is turned On under both Silent and Ring, the function has yet to turn on.
To reproduce my problem, I called my iPhone (while in silent mode, with vibrate on). I put the back of the phone against my ear to see if there was the slightest noise coming from the device. And there was, a faint "clicking" noise, which seemed like the vibrate function was trying to come on. Yeah, I shook the phone... still no vibrate.
I posted that message to the Apple Discussions; they suggested that I (obviously) contact Apple Support.
After a quick 10 minutes, the woman on the line told me that they can replace it for $30, or waive the fee if I purchase the Apple Care Protection Plan. It's not my fault for the non-functioning phone, why are they making me pay for it?
The nearest Apple Store where I bought the phone is an hour and a half today, so I feel like that's the only place I can go where I don't have to pay anything. If I'm mistaken, somebody please tell me. I do not want to pay the $50 restocking fee for something that doesn't work right.
So for now, I'm going to be signing up with a Genus at the store to get this taken care of.
Please send any feedback you have on this... and if anyone had to swap their phone for a new one, was there any fee involved?
Thanks
