iPhone/iTunes mp3/movie import question?

Hey Guys,

Sorry if this is a dumb question. On my ipod I can very easily take a folder of mp3 files and drag it directly into the ipod in iTunes (not having to import the songs into my itunes library). I can also do this with movies downloaded from torrents, etc. On the iPhone however it doesn't appear that I can drag any of these files directly into the iPhone via iTunes. Can this be done or does everything need to be sync'd via an iTunes folder?
