Your car and homeowner's insurance should at least cover when it's stolen. I know that's not the idea, but it's something.

everyone should invest in an american express card. when you buy with one, you get a 1 year extended manufacturers warranty (which is good because apple warranties blow), and you get theft, accidental damage, and lost item insurance for the initial 90 days following the purchase for up to $1000. I've used it before for an xbox360 which unfortunately took a nose dive off the top of my tv--its really a great option.
