Any word on whether (or not) the iPhone will be sold at the Apple stores with the Government and/or Educator discounts? Not talking about the rate plans, just the device itself.

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark on this one, and say No....
Especially if you want it anywhere near the first day.
My company gets a corporate discount on both phones and service...but, the phone isn't even listed on the website yet for my company discount. So, i'm not gonna risk maybe not getting it soon.

I would be very surprised if there are any discounts at all ever. If it does end up in the Apple government or education store it won't be for at least six months and even then I would be a little surprised.

Typically I have been receiving a 5% discount on Apple Products in an Apple Store do to my business account with Apple. I'm not sure the other posters are familiar with the different Apple discount programs available in store. It usually applies regardless of whether an item is newly released or not.

If the Apple discount applies, then great, if not, then I'm ok with that too.

I get an 18% discount on my voice plan only from the military, not any extras I throw on. I wonder if this will apply still after the iphone?

Considering that iPhone will not be sold to corporate customers I doubt you will be able to get a corporate discount.

One of the last suprises could be a slight discount. Not so much as a reward from apple to qualified upgraders...but as incentive to count on Apple for being so Fing great.

i called the dept at at&t that handles these discounts and she said NO. i am suppose to get 15% off cingular/at&t service and $50 off equipment for working at a state university. they arent honoring this for iphone. however, i think if i sign up on iDay and deal with it...i should be able to call later (6mo) and get a discount added to my plan rate. it may increase my contract, but i can't see wanting to switch once i get the iphone.

Yeah, I see that as a possibilty. A slight price reduction on launch day. That would shut up a lot of the naysayers who are *****ing about price.
