ya it would be nice if it was charged.. but i have a hour drive home and i can charge it on my laptop on the way home..

Is the only way to charge the iphone through the USP port and docking setup? That would suck if I have to go out of town and don't have a computer with me. They've got to have some other kind of charger.

I wonder if it would work with my usb power brick that i have for my ipod?

yes it will...they are selling the same exact thing now but with iphone in the name for the same price..griffin makes it, and its 20 bucks.
