Iphone - Australia

Iphone here in Australia is not released yet. I got one from ebay which work okay in my optus network. I have the version 1.1.4 (4A102). Now I cannot connect to safari, you tube etc.. thru wifi. Reason being server cannot be found. It found a wifi network in my office and have a strong signal of wifi and sometimes it turns into blue square. However, when I go back to safari still cannot connect due to server not found. Same problem at home which it found a wifi network but still cannot connect to safari, you tube etc.. CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE?
