Default iPhone Activations Down

I bought a iPhone today but when I tried to activate it iTunes says "iPhone Activations are Unavailable at this time" Does this mean that they are no longer activating iPhones thru iTunes or is it just temporarily down?

When I got mine it took me a few trys, you may want to do what JJ said. I called AT&T who told me to take it to an At&t store but eventually the website (itunes) let me do it.

Well I remember having problems before when getting to the actual activation portion of the process. This seems different though, the error message comes up as soon as I connect my iPhone.

Take it to an At&t store if you have one close by tomorrow, I am sure they can help, maybe it's the phone. Did you get it at Apple or At&t??

I know it's annoying, but I'll bet anything that it's temporary. Give it 6-12 hours.
