I don't think it matters, I just know you won't be able to use firewire.

It will be slow. You can always get a pcmcia USB card that will give you 2.0.

well USB 2.0 vs. USB 1 point slow... i will still get ur stuff on there....I have a 30 GB iPod....with usb 1.0 or w/e on my pc.....i used up about 20 gb....imagine when i bought it or hooked up another ipod how long it took...about 6 -7 hours to up load....****..but the iphone being on 4-8 GB...shouldnt be too long...
