As I come from the UK I understand that you can buy the iPhone from these mobile phone stores. That wasnt my point that you couldnt buy them from anywhere else. My point in the above post was clearly stating the fact that they are locked to O2, like the US are to AT&T. I was also stating that a lot of people are buying the iPhone from eBay where sellers are offering them unlocked.

Let me point out then that you can buy from the Carphone Warehouse, O2, Apple and so on but they are all locked to O2 on contract.

Anyway... back to the reason why I actually posted this.

Well there is this other country, it sits on top of the U.S., it's called Canada and iPhones are not sold here...I bought mine from a pretty sketchy store so I think that this is a good argument, also for a "discount" a lot of my friends bought iPhones without a box, saves you like $50. And I'm pretty sure a good million or so iPhones have been sold in places besides At&t and the Apple store, there's even an article about it on this site.

I thought Rogers was bringing the iPhone to Canada soon? I can just imagine the internet costs now. $1000 for a Roger's unlimited internet plan, if you sign up to a 3 year contract. Yes people, Canadian carriers have 3 year plans.

if the "iPhone" YOU bought; does not cut and paste, can't change to landscape view when texting, does not suport stereo bluetooth, has NO camera controls, no video, can't change alerts for mail, will not record voice memos, etc etc. then it is a REAL iPhone!! (LOL)

Well, to be fair, and in agreement to what colstiger just said, fake iPhones are all blindingly obviously fake. You only need to do a google image search for 'iPhone' and the differences between the UI and design of the real and fake devices will be too huge not to pick them up immediately. If they're not, then you're very lucky and all that but could we have some pics...?
