You can't expect to come to an iPhone forum with guns blazing about how you hate Steve Jobs and incessantly complain about the iPhone, and not get some negative feedback. I wouldn't have responded in the manner that I did if it weren't for the other thread, which by the way I stopped reading because of your posts, where you were continuously whining for pages on end. Just because this is a new thread, don't act like you're a new poster with a clean track record.

If you grow up, grow a pair and stop worrying about your warranty, jailbreak, abandon POP email and forward most of your accounts to a Gmail account, you'll have everything you want. Otherwise, get a Blackberry and stop raining on our parade.

Nobody else but you two clowns came here to spew venom. I wrote that I was understandably upset and frustrated at the moment. And you chose that moment to rub salt in the wounds. No suggestions, no applications, no recommendations - just coming here to swing high and hard.

How is it rubbing salt int he wound?? You post said that iTunes and the iPhone doesnt adequatley back up your data. Speaking only for myself, I merely informed you that you are mistaken and iTunes does sync and back up all the data it is supposed to.

The Apple rep said that I should use other programs in Windows to backup the phone such as importing my pictures onto the hard drive. This is not handled in iTunes. I see a library of media in iTunes for Windows for video, music, podcasts and TV shows (which I'd never use as frequently as photos) so iTunes as a backup tool appears incomplete. Any reasonable person would conclude so. The iPhone on Windows can be a challenging experience. But thanks for stopping by and letting me know you're an experienced iPhone user and letting us all know that everyone loves and reveres you here.

iTunes and its sync with the iPhone will backup your camera roll. Also, when you plug your iPhone into your computer you will be given the option to transfer all your pictures from your camera roll to your pc. This is done through iPhoto on a mac.

Im also by no means an iPhone expert. I have lots of questions, lots of the time. There was also nowhere in my post that insinuated that I thought everybody loved and revered me. I resent that remark.

PS - Apparently this application has a photos interface for the iPhone. I have no idea why Apple doesn't just include it if third parties do. It's hard for all of us to gage what does and doesn't work well when fans like just gush madly over the iPhone leaving the rest of us to discover what you choose to overlook and deem how to finagle as "knowledge.

Again, how mis-informed are you? I most certainly do not gush madly over the iPhone. I am one of its biggest critics with regards to its shortfalls. However, what you fail to understand is that; Yes, a Nokia or other phone may sync your pictures and have a better battery and back up your phone just as you would like. However, those phones do not have the App store, they do not have the iTunes sync ability which I for 1 think is the most complete syncing interface around. And in my opinion, as an all round mobile device, the iPhone is MY choice of phone. If you personally dont like it, nobody is forcing you to use it. Change the phone.

However, before you ***** about the iPhones shortcomings in that you have backed up and it hasnt backed up your camera roll. You really should check how you have done it because an iPhone backup includes:

SMS Messages
Contacts
All Application Settings
Home Screen icon order
Photos taken with the Camera
Wallpaper image
Bookmarks
Calendar Events
Phone Favorites
Voicemail Messages
Notes

"

Again, you post is full of errors.

Please see my responses in red.

ALL you had to say is that the backup must be contained somewhere even if it doesn't appear obvious from the front end of the application. The Apple technical support representative must have been mistaken if you are correct or perhaps it was semantics.

This thread is littered with only obnoxious comments from the two of you - virtually nobody else. Europa still insists he "knows" what everyone should be doing and that we're just all idiots who use POP accounts without reason as if IMAP and other email solutions don't present their own set of challenges. If neither of you had decided to spew nasty messages, this thread wouldn't even have continued as far as it has - how about cutting it now?

The back-ups arent shown on a front end interface they are stored by itunes in your hard drive.

Im not going to post on this thread anymore as I believe you are misinformed about the process of backing up and syncing, and I believe that you have bought an iPhone and instead of growing to like it and learning about how to work around problems you are just rejecting it. If thats the case, sell it and get a phone you would be happy with.

I'm done responding to you as well. I just want to point out that YOU were the first to post an obnoxious comment in this thead. You set the stage.

You came to this thread, decided to post a snide obnoxious reference to your favorite movie, and now want to leave without blame. You should have just kept your derision to yourself. Grow up and acknowledge what you've done instead of blaming others.

Croucher - yes, it appears I was misinformed a bit about the backup but it is much more challenging to manage iTunes on Windows than on a Mac. Thinking you've lost all your data can lead you to those nervous moments.

You thinks that's bad? Dave once called me a teenage girl in IRC.

I'm still paying my therapist $400/hr for that one.

Where to begin? Europa is definitely a lady, for one...

Hinky, your disposition on a forum will determine the types of responses you get. I understand your frustration with your iPhone, but if you listen to the responses people are giving you without getting upset and taking things personally, you'll see we're trying to help.

This really is a very friendly forum, but when someone comes in with an agenda, it puts us on edge very quickly. This is what you're experiencing. You seem rather hellbent on complaining instead of actually learning how to solve your issues. Just roll with the punches, pick up the good advice (which is coming at you from all angles), and try to catch the vibe of this place... and you'll be fine.

Regarding your backup... are you on a Mac or PC? We can find the location of your backup files and see the date it was created. That way we can figure out if you actually took a proper backup with iTunes before restoring. The fact is, if it was done correctly and still didn't restore EVERYTHING, then something is amiss...
