How To Make New Mail Folders

How do I make new folders in the mail application? I have an inbox, sent and trash folder, and I'd like to make a couple other folders so I can keep my inbox clean.

Not possible to make them on the iPhone (at this point)

If your Email account is using IMAP rather than POP3, you will see any mailbox you create on your IMAP email account appear on your iPhone, as IMAP ports them across when you set-up Email access.

Currently that's the only way.

Thanks for the answer cdodkin... even though it's not what I wanted to hear. Is there no way (other than deletion) to get messages out of the inbox for a POP3 account?

Anybody know if gmail has an imap protocol?

Theres no mass deletion

Gmail does not have IMAP, but it is frequently requested. Hopefully they'll add it soon

Yeah at this point mail is a pain. I had forgotten how much junk is sent to me because I have rules set up that send junk mail to the trash. Now I am confronted with dealing with all of it e-mail by e-mail.

I REALLY hope this gets addressed soon.
