Question How to configure Gmail on the iPhone?

hi

i would like to configure my gmail account on my iPhone, but i dont want it to download my emails, i want to keep my emails on the server.


i just want to be able to read my emails, without downloading them.


is that possible?

Yes, just use the gmail config on the phone and make sure in the mail sections that you have leave email on server checked.

You also need to allow pop email in the gmail account go to your gmail account on the computer, open it, go to settings then click the Forwarding and POP tab.
Then click the button to allow pop forwarding.
POP Download:
1. Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since xxx

You also should have this:
2. When messages are accessed with POP keep Gmail's copy in the Inboxarchive Gmail's copydelete Gmail's copy

One more hint, if you send email through gmail you will always get a copy sent back to you. The workaround is to set up a filter in gmail with your from gmaill email address to go to the trash, that way it will not send it back to you.
