ive read that the volume is louder with 1.1.3

hmm...the sound sounds the same to me unless you poke the dust holes to make the sound louder.

wow I actually poked holes into the dust protector under the left speaker and it got ALOT! louder.

I dont really need it that loud. If im using it to watch movies or using it for music theres a damn good chance i have headphones on.

But ringtones are much louder as well; I think that's where a lot of volume concerns lie...

Sounds about the same to me. Volume was much improved after 1.1.2 though.
