Default HELP! WON'T INSTALL! Keeps saying to re-install iTunes. Tried 4 times already...

"The software required for iPhone is not installed. Please run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."

I downloaded the latest version 2 times, and uninstalled, removed Quicktimes and iTunes manually after that, re-installed. Nothing works!! I've tried this 4 times. I have windows vista, asus motherboard, and an ati card, if that helps.

I spent 700 on the darn phone, and now it won't even install.

Can anyone help me out here? I'm kind of pissed...

I activated things perfectly on my Mac at work (all contacts and iCal items loaded). When I went home to try and load my music off of my PC, I got the same message as you. I reinstalled iTunes on the PC a couple of times and no luck. In my case, I suspect that it is because I activated it on a Mac and then tried to have a PC recognize it. Slightly bummed about that.

I was able to connect it to a different Mac for a successful iPhoto transfer. Are you having the problem with a Mac or a PC?

I am having the same problem with it on my vista machine.
In my case I believe it has to do with the iPhone device driver not being installed properly.

I have not resolved the problem yet, I ended up activating it on my laptop. If I figure it out tomorrow I will let you know.

I'm running pc, vista. This is really gay how apple doesn't even make products that will work correctly with their competitors.

Makes perfect business sense....doesn't it? Switch to Mac and never have problems again......I did 2 years ago...There's no comparison....

But they have alternatives for mac that're like office. There's no alternative to activate my iphone... And Microsoft says what their stuff is compatible with. Apple says it'll work, but it's not working...

And I don't really want to get into a mac vs pc debate, I'm just trying to see if someone would like to help me out.

There is no debate, mac is better.
And I am sure it works, i promise you 99.9% of Vista users successfully activated their iPHone! Dont make a generalization until you know
