Myself and my dad have iphones... both were working fine.
I have installed several apps (lots actually) and my phone is fine.
He on the other hand doesnt install much at all - or certainly nothing that I havent done ages ago. We are both have 1.1.3 version
When he turns his phone on now (power off and on) black and white diagonal lines appear on the phone before the apple symbol appears. Other than that the phone turns on successfully and he can make calls and use all the standard and non-standard apps.
The problem:
I have tried changing the ring tone on his phone in settings from 'strum' to any other standard tone - like 'bell tower' for example. In settings it says that this change has been completed - but when the phone gets an incoming call - the tone is still 'strum'
I think this is linked to the error he gets when turning on the phone..
Any help?
What can we do - Its obviously an unlocked / jailbreak phone as we are using the iphone on Vodafone in Ireland..
Check his contacts ion Contacts section of the phone and make sure that the ringtone for that contact or contacts is not set to Strum. If so, you need to set it to default.
As for the lines, does he happen to have Screenshot installed? It's been known to create lines like that.

sounds like an app installed to create lines before start up, I installed something and it did what your explaining, go and check his installer under uninstall and report back what is install

ive had the " lines" problem but it was caused by app a days ants. Obviously he doesn't have that. If the problem persists and u dont wana restore and download all the apps over again try uninstalling them one at a time and try to narow it down. It appears to me that this is probably just a faulty app but when all eles fails rejailbreak and unlock. As farr as being on 1.1.3 is concerned I personaly think it is the best firmware for the jailbroken comunity.

I have most of these installed and no trouble! is the lines at start upp really causing that much of a problem, can you dad live with it?
