Default Help for a friend??

Ok so my buddy had a jailbroke iPhone. Saturday night he decided to try to default it and install the newest firmware. Now his phone is completely bricked. He has tried defaulting it in itunes but it isn't working. And with the short supply of iPhones he can't just go out and get a replacement. Was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to debrick an iphone preferably for free as he would rather just buy a 3g then spend more money on this phone.

Thanks for any help.

I ran into a similar problem last week. My phone would not default back on my i-tunes. I tried and I tried. I kept getting a error at the end of the Restore about a missing file. I took my phone over to my wife's Computer. Clicked to Restore. it restored just fine. If he's on the computer he originally jailbreaked it with. I doubt you're going to get a good restore.

Good luck. I think if he went to any other PC with i-Tune, he'll be fine.
