No, I want only to check AUTOMATICALLY once a 3 hours and apple restricts me. Do I really want so much?

The email program is absolutely awful. Checking only 15mins...not being able to select multiple emails for delete...on top of that, having to then go into the Trash folder and AGAIN, delete one by one...no copy and paste...etc.

I dont think i am being picky. These are functions that PDA's have had for YEARS!!! Its like Apple decided to take a step backwards with the email program.

Additionally, the battery life sucks. Why its not removable is just stupid. Another way for Apple to make more money off us. $80 for a replacement once a year. Forget that!

The keyboard...not even going to get into it. If you have an iPhone, you know my frustrations. In todays world, we email and text in cyber-slang. Almost every email i have written, it has changed the word i meant for it to be, to something completely different.

I havent been waiting 5 months for this device...i have been waiting over 5 years, since the Newton, for Apple to come back out with a handheld.

Wasted time.
these are major problems and you are justified in returning the phone. I'm holding our for a firmware update. I can live with the problems in the meantime.

Well I'll tell you why. I came back from vacation the day before I bought my iPhone. After syncing it I found I had some 300 e-mails. I not only had to delete each one by hand, then I had to do it all over again to delete them from the trash. That's 600 time I had to delete e-mails! The other thing is the battery. I know of no other cell phone on the planet that doesn't have a replaceable battery. I can understand that maybe on an iPod, but it's totally unacceptable on a cell phone. Aside from the $85.00 rip off price for the battery I can't afford to be without my phone for 3 days as I use it for my business, and I don't think I should be asked to after spending $600.00.

i dont see why all of you guys who have alot of buisness/emails to take care of bought the phone in the first place.
Maybe you should have waited, or listened to early reviews saying that this is certainly no buisness phone.
Stop ******** and be patient, maybe they will have a solution to your problems, maybe not, if you dont like it just go and return it, dont contaminate the site with all of your complaints

ugh

Hey, It was Steve Jobs who said he was changing the face of cell phone's by introducing his state of the art phone. I think a select all to delete e-mails is a pretty common feature. I don't think a search feature in Contacts is to much to ask for. I don't even want to talk about the non replaceable battery. Do you really find packing it up and standing in a UPS line convenient?

Default knuckledraggers

this forum does not speak well for the quality of people who purchased this device. Any attempt at discussing the drawbacks is met with truly nasty, base and unintelligent responses. Makes me wonder whether I should keep the phone myself, given the level of many of its defenders.

Red face

Some people just want to hate the iPhone regardless of what it does. But for anyone who bought the iPhone last Friday expecting "PERFECTION" should never have stood in line. Apple made it very clear they were creating a "revolutionary" device, and were doing some things that have just not been done or tried before. So all of us who bought the iPhone were PIONEERS, and we all should have expected to be roughing it for a few months. Just like when some people download BETA apps, then complain when the app has bugs is beyond me. Well anytime something BRAND NEW is invented, any prudent person will realize there will be some bugs, some flaws early on.

My Visual Voicemail took 3 days to work correctly. Porting my number from Sprint to AT&T took 48 hours instead of 24. But I never threatened to return the iPhone because there were a couple of problems. I was smart enough to buy one EXPECTING there would be problems. And having been a Apple person for as long as I can remember, I know from experience Steve Jobs and company are hard at work on simple software updates to fix all the buggy little problems we're all complaining about. That's the magic of having an iPhone versus some other device...it can receive instant fixes via software updates.

So for all those complaining the iPhone wasn't more perfect that God, fine...take it back. That way Apple can resell it to someone who can really appreciate it at a discounted price. But for now I'm loving mine...bugs and all. I know it will only get better over time!

You are quite right. Thanks for your feedback. I'm also considering returning mine. Apple usually does a much better job on version 2.0 of their products.

I was expecting better out of them since they spent hundreds of millions on the hype machine. However to be fair it is important to remember that they have no experience with cell phones and unfortunately in this case it really shows.

If I return mine, then like you it will be a much smaller price to pay now. Later when ver 2.0 is released the value of these first iPhones will collapse badly.

Of course one could always keep it as a museum piece....

This still doesn't explain very basic things that are wrong like the ****ty speaker volume.

Don't tell me about loving Apple. Over the years I have owned almost every computer they ever produced. The Apple2, 2plus,Mac 128K Mac Plus, Mac LC2, MAc G3 Mac G4 tower, iMAc G4 and currently Mac G5 2.7 gig tower. Not to mention the 6 iPods in this house, and now 2 iPhones. I think I have earned a right to be heard here! I think Apple is a very innovative company, but they are also masters of marketing. A search for contacts, and select all delete for e-mails are not simple over sights. Any company that produces such a beautiful product, and refines it to such a level, does not forget these basic features by accident. I am willing to bet that these simple fixes will not find there way into this phone, but will become part of the next gen. As far as the battery goes Pure corporate Greed! Do I hate Apple? Hell no. Do I think they make a great product hell yes. Do I think they know how to market? Indeed!
