I agree with you, they are two different devices within one group (mobile smart phones).
I read it more as an observation, not a comparison. It seemed to be a comment on what was important to the OP and what device provides that feature.
My iPhone is definitely an Apple entertainment device.
My BlackBerry is a professional communications device.
My Samsung A717 is a Fast 3G, ultra thin & light flip phone.
My MacBook Pro is certainly an Apple computer.
And they all have their purpose.....
