Default Getting an iPhone in 2 weeks! Tips?

Hello guys. I'm not sure if this is the right board but it looked like it

I am kind of new to the iPhone. My dad has an 8gig which he's selling to me when he gets the 3g iPhone. I am on windows..(waits for flaming to commence) so I'm hoping someone who has an iPhone and windows can give me some tips with the syncing . I'm also hoping for some tips on general iPhone stuff, so when I get my phone I can be all ready! .

I do have one question. How would I get a wallpaper onto my iPhone through windows? When I plug my iPhone in does it show up as an external drive? Can I browse through it?

Thanks guys!

To put wallpaper on the iphone, you create a subfolder in you pictures folder,,,or anywhere you want, and label it wallpaper, and then put in images of your choice....i forget the size needed so maybe someone can chime in with that. then sync your iphone and check the box of your new folder you just created under the pictures tab, go to the picture icon on your iphone select your new folder thier and set an image as wallpaper..theres lots of help in the wallpaper section of this forum if you need it....happy iphoning

wallpaper size is 320x480 pixels, but you can stretch or shrink any picture to work.

at this juncture, a "stock" iphone will not show up as a drive to browse through on your computer. It is possible to hack the software to gain access to the filesystem (the term is "jailbreak")... this allows you to edit, move, add, etc any file on the phone, and even install applications. It's also a very short and automated process, but can cause you some reliability problems if you are not careful in which apps you install. It also technically voids any apple warranty.

Wow thanks aknightstale41 and acosmichippo!

@aknightstale - I'll do that as soon as I get my iPhone . I already have some wallpapers lined up

@acosmichippo - can you explain your username? I won't do any jailbreaking because when iPhone 2.0 comes out I can legally download apps like that without it messing up my warrenty

that's certainly a reasonable way to look at it.

my screen name is adapted from an album from one of my favorite bands.
