Default Double tap the home button while in "lock mode"!!
Ok call me stupid but I NEVER knew about this feature until just now and it is very helpful! I know there are others so I'll tell. When the phone is sleeping or in "slide to unlock" double tap the home button and a re,ff,play button appears to easily control your music without navigating through the menu.

That feature was introduced with update 1.1.2.

Yea I use it when im cycling so I dont have to ride and try to navigate through the menu...not safe

It was 1.1.1
The iPod Touch had that feature before us iPhone users.
