How easy is it to accidentally scratch and or crack the iPhone.

Right now I have a Treo 650 and I keep it in my pocket, no case. And I've dropped it numerous times. I do have a screen protector on the screen.

Ther are some scrapes and nicks on the outside plastic due to the drops on pavement, but the screen never cracked or scratched.

Where so much more real estate of the phone is "scratch able" material on the iPhone, I was wondering how much I should worry about carrying one w/o a case in my pocket.

A few weeks after I got my phone I applied a Body Guard clear film to just the screen. After months of regular abuse (in and out of my pocket) I have zero scratches and I can clean it with my shirt no problem. It is pretty amazing. I highly recommend. As for dropping it, yea it's probably gonna break/crack, just like anything else.

i know of a different way to get a new iPhone.

Instantly.

I have prepaid on the v1 iPhone. I read that 3g isn't available for go phone plans. That would pretty much crush my heart. I've waited since last year hoping a 3G would be released. I freakin' paid $600 for that iPhone! Give me a break. If I have to pay $600 again I would. Its worth it
