Could Not Activate EDGE
Hey everyone. Seems that I have been without EDGE for about an hour in the NYC area. Anytime I try to open a webpage, it gives me the titled message. Wifi works fine and I can make/receive calls and texts. Is this some type of outage or do I have a problem with my phone? Thanks guys.

we are assuming that you have turned the phone off and back on? Any crazy apps installed? Jailbroken? More info please.

happened to me too from about 8-9pm central time (possibly later) in St Louis.
restarted many times... cleared cache, cookies, etc. to no avail. working fine now though...

Psylichon yes the service came back on about an hour after I posted. OJsakila and acosmichippo yes I did the routine troubleshooting like restarting the phone and such. My phone is jailbroken but very stable with no nutty apps installed.
Acosmichippo it seems that it was AT&T at fault, since you exhibited similar symptoms. Hope they don't have more of these problems once they get the onslaught of new users on their network! |

They have been doing a lot of upgrading lately in prep for the 3G iPhone. I can only imagine such upgrades may interrupt current service. It's probably a good thing in the long run.

yeah it was funny because i had given my iphone to my semi-friend to look up a phone number to a pizzeria... he hadn't seen an iphone before, so he was like "what kind of a crap phone is this?" Naturally, i assumed he was doing something wrong, and i couldn't really pay attention as i was driving... made for an awkward drive to the pizzeria.

Heh, reminds me of everytime I tried to fire up MooCow's Band to show off to a client at the studio. Those are always the time it froze the phone.

I find that sometimes the edge service doesn't work with a Youtube video, but works with the internet. Sometimes I think it is just a matter of turning the phone on and off, going outside, getting 5 signal bars, and crossing your fingers.
