Default connecting itunes to my new iphone?

Have just got a message pop up 'This iphone cannot be used because it requires Mac OSX 10.4.10 or later.
Can this be solved? and if so how?

It can be solved, click the apple icon in the upper left on your screen. then click software update. It will tell you what update you need to download.

You can't update the OS through Software Update.

To the OP, you may not have a version of Mac OS X supported by the iPhone. Click on the Apple in the menu bar, and then 'About this Mac'. Under the large 'Mac OS X' text, see what version you have. It needs to be at least 10.4.x.

If it is lower than that (10.3.x) you will need to update to your OS or use a different computer with a newer OS.

Well, you can update the OS through Software update, just not the major releases like 10.3 to 10.4. You can do 10.4.1 to 10.4.10 though.
