Default Can I import songs from the iPhone?

Friend of mine gave me a ton of songs. I'm trying to bring those songs onto my iTunes, and I've searched and tried MANY programs(searching this forum and others), but none works. Is iPhone 3G built differently than the first iPhone so it doesn't let the computer access its songs?

I'm trying to get my friend to dump his collection on my External USB HDD but we can't find time to transfer, and I don't want to sync and delete all his songs/movies/videos because I prefer his selection. What can I do?

Purple Ghost works very well for pulling music and play lists, from your iPod or iPhone. It will add them to iTunes...Mark

Is there a free version? Have people retrieved songs from the iPhone 3G onto their computer without jailbreaking?

when i had to put my iphone songs on my mac I googled "transfer iphone songs to mac" , i found a trial for one program that limited me to 200 songs so i copied the 200 songs and then i uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and did the following 200. shouldnt be too hard finding a program like that.

Thanks for recommending that! Too bad it only allows me 5 songs at a time

Maybe I'll keep searching, but this is a start at least!

It didn't in this case, I got some songs working. Let's say my friend has downloaded some songs from iTunes and some from CDs and some from Limewire or something. If I brought a portable harddrive to his house, could he copy all those songs(including the ones he bought from iTunes) and I put them onto my iTunes and it doesn't ask for the password for his iTunes for the songs that he bought? Because my iPhone was synced with his computer and when I try to transfer a song to iTunes(which I do), it asks for his password for his account.

This is definitely why I would rather buy songs from amazon in mp3 format because apple has to do all this. Still, my friend gave me over a thousand songs(not all bought from iTunes) and I don't want to delete them because I like so many of his songs and it would be too much effort for me to download them through some file share network which I don't want to do because I might get caught.

My friend dumped his iTunes collection onto my iPhone, I Have yet to sync my iphone with my own iTunes because my friend gave me too many songs for me to just delete. Some of his iTunes collection had songs from CDs, other downloading sites, and he "might" have had some from buying the songs from iTunes. I think that when you buy an iTunes song, it tags your iTunes account with that song. So from his iTunes, I put the songs on a flash drive and bring it to my computer, will it still need his account info?

I'm not exactly sure but I think that you might need his info to play the song on your computer, I think it's going to ask you something about authorizing it on your comp
