Default Bad News! Argggh!

I thought my contract was up July 7th, but that's just the new phone eligibility date; contract isn't up until Dec. 7th.
And the cheapest Verizon plan looks like 40$/month.
Haven't checked the early termination fee yet for sure.
Any creative ideas or am I just screwed?
Thanks.

Pay the cancellation fee and be done with it.

You can wait until Dec. 7th (for an updated iphone maybe) or cancel your account and end up shelling out a lot of money just for the iphone.

or you can get a new contract at at&t and keep your old phone and shell out even more money.

There are websites that find people to take over your phone contract. I have never used them, but it is an option to look into.

Verizon's ETF is $175.00 unless you signed a contract with them after March '06 (I think) in which case you would pay a prorated ETF.

Right, gcvt. I just called Verizon and my pro-rated termination fee would be $145.

Just depends on how bad you want the iPhone. That would make the cost $745 instead of $600, but it would be better than paying the $40/month until December.

You can
A. Join the Military
B. Have someone write up a Certificate of Death
C. Move Outside there coverage area (zimbobway maybe?)
D. Pay the 175
Thats pretty much it and I think for A/B you need proof.

And for C too. Someone I know tried to get out of a contract by saying he was moving out of the country and they asked him to mail proof of residency from the new country before he would be allowed to cancel.
