Apple AV cable

Help Please,

I have an Apple AV cable that I use for audio and video out on my video ipod. I can not get it to work on my iPhone, do I need an adapter?

All help will be appreciated.

yes, i did the download. When I plug the cable into the phone it just sends a lot of popping noises through the speakers.

Interesting. Others are reporting that they enabled video out with this update...

Try switching the RCA jacks in different configurations... perhaps the iPhone jack is different than the iPod jack.

Does this cable plug into the headphone jack or the 30 dock connector?

It's supposed to have the same pin-out as the iPod.

Somebody qouted in another thread that video out wasn't supported by hardware, but I remember reading that there was no SIGNAL - not that the hardware itself was absent. It has long been speculated (by people who should know) that video out may be possible via update. Now we know - or at least it's been reported...

It's a 30 pin dock function. The headphone jack only supports audio.

I bought the cable at Circuit City, but it is an apple brand.

It just goes in the headphone jack. This is the same set up as my Video Ipod and it works just fine. It doesn't play audio or video, just makes popping noises.
