Yes sir, I live just north of Chicago so I have 3g pretty much everywhere I go.

I am aligned with Whale. The 3Gs is an amazing upgrade. I am not on a fixed incomer per se, but the phone became a big part of my life (for good or bad). In Salt Lake City the phone part of the phone is seriously 10x better then before. Less dropped calls, stronger signal, works in places my V1 did not. If you ever saw any of my old posts you would see that my biggest complaint with the V1 phone was that here in SLC the device blew donkeys as a phone. Not anymore!

    Other things:
Much faster - apps open faster, 3G is nice, phone is snappy.
The camera is better, video is nifty.
More storage (I was an 8GB owner)
No more recessed headphones jack (I lost my adapter forever ago)
Wireless appears to be faster, but might be due to the phone loading things much quicker
Many other things as well (much to be discovered!)

Probably get in trouble somewhere with this one.

Firstly, I am an Apple iPhone tech support agent. That being said, I have an 8G silverback. I had a fun New Years including denting the steel around my Sleep/Wake button. No longer able to try a forced reset, screen saver is off, have to jack into iTunes if battery is exhausted, etc.
I love my phone and see only the video function as being any reason to upgrade just now. I already have 3.0 and it's crisp.
Must include that I did not know the fix (iTunes jack to bring back my functions, thought my phone was toast) and signed up for a new 2 year contract getting a new Samsung doorstop in return that didn't work well with my sim....'nuf said.
I'm in contract and cannot justify buying a 32G 3Gs for 7 bills. Even with the discount I receive as an employee.
My advice? Keep the silverback, they look good scratched and are in demand...trust me. I got a lot of the upgrades through 3.0. I have a better smart phone/iPod/computer than the majority of my peers. Would I upgrade if I could? Yup. But the world is all about situations and I don't want to waste money right now. It works, I'm happy.

    Great take, jaydub, thanks.

"8GB Silverback, Samsung doorstop", loved the terminology!

I lied, I plan on upgrading to the 32GB

    forced upgrade, eh.

I had an 8GB V1 that I'd been using since the release, but over the last two months I was using it, I started getting the incessant "Airplane Mode" pop-up over everything and it drove me rightly mad, so I just bit the bullet and upgraded because I was tired of putting money into repairs for the old one. I haven't regretted it, but honestly there's not any huge change that I feel with it. I like in rural Mississippi, so it's not like there's a 3G network within an hour of me in any direction so it's a non-issue.
I like having more storage and it's a little speedier, but upgrading was whatever. If my old one hadn't been freaking out, I wouldn't have upgraded.
