i just spoke with a rep from apple and he told me that the 4g iphone was discontinued...ah man...i'm glad i waited...whoa!

I would imagine they're getting ready for the influx of iPhone clones/wannabe's. Just about every major manufacturer has a competitive device nearing launch. I think this was a preemptive strike by Apple to lessen the effect of a competitors product launch. I can't imagine they would drop the price so drastically without good business reason(s).
