Speculation is that this update will be necessary for the new software that will come out in the weeks to follow the SDK release, also speculated to happen at the same time.
Many of the current 3rd party developers are already joining with Apple to legitimize their software. Some are not, going with the idea that free is better for all. ( I admire their stance, but I believe that people should be paid fairly for their hard work.) Either way, on February 26th, things will be changing for the iPhone. The question is going to be whether it is worth the update, or stay where most owner are with the jailbroken 1.1.3 and earlier. Time will tell for sure, but I can say that if the apps I use now are not available, then there is no point for me to update. It would have to be friggin magical for me to update. And by that I mean, copy/paste, MMS, and about a half a dozen other features that Apple seems to have forgotten about that nearly all other smart phones and semi smart phones seem to have.
PS - as far as you installer not downloading, check my other posts. I recently posted the fix for this.
exactly im still on 1.1.2 i think. I know im not past that for sure, didnt even konw a 1.1.3 was out till i came back on this board the other day.
what is MMS btw? i keep hearing that. What is this NEW software that is coming out that will need 1.1.4 for it to work?
