How do i change wallpaper? /newb!

Hey so I just bought my Iphone yesterday, and, it's awesome minus the fact that I cant change anything or mass text =\

I see here that a lot of people mod their phone, needless to say, im nervous about that since I just bought it, but I am sure I'll eventually cave. I dont know why they dont just support all the different mods for it.

Anywho, how do i change the background on my phone? I see some amazing ones you all have done, but do i have to unlock / hax my phone to be able to change it? Let me know.

If you download ibrickr then you can use iswitcher to change the background. Now this is where I get lost cause I have no idea how to add in the cool ones that people have created.

I search so many forums and I still have not found a straight forward answer.
