AOL showcased the AIM app they had been working on for only two weeks back in March when iPhone 2.0 software was officially announced by Steve. It looked pretty impressive already after only two weeks of development.
Also, when they were talking about running background applications during the WWDC Keynote Address, the application they demoed this feature for was a messenger application. Background AIM messages might just pop-up while the phone is in sleep mode just like text messages do, if you set it up that way. It should be quite useful and revolutionary to be on AIM at all times.
I'm looking forward to that, the Tom Tom application, and Loopt the most. Who knows what else? There will be so many, it will be hard to keep on top of which ones other people have that are the most useful.
