*In addition* I also think that for those that have the "Official" 2.0 firmware and still complain of sluggish apps, you also need to turn off the location services.
From what I can tell, it at least twice as bad as having BSD Subsystem running in the background on your phone.*
thanks for the tip!...so what is the location services anyway?

Well, as far as my test goes, I am 99% sure that that the locator service chews up battery.
As I write this, I have about 1/4th of the battery icon missing and usage is at 3 Hours. That's 47 minutes of calls, and the rest is edge browsing (2.6MB) and a combination of iPod and apps.
This morning's 40 minutes of usage was from my alarms and a handful of SMS only and it showed about an eighth of the battery missing.
Test for yourselves though. I don't want to tell everyone this, and I am the only one that is experiencing the problem.

Default Downloading forever!

Or so it seems. How long did the update for everyone else take?

Honestly I am not sure. AS far as I can tell, they work in conjunction with certain apps that use your location for posting or whatever service the app supplies.
Generally, if an app uses the services, then when you install and/or launch for the first time it should ask if the phone can use your location.
I say no anyway.

I noticed that today when using the camera, it asked me if I wanted to use my current location. I said 'allow' because I wasn’t quite sure what it meant. Can this be changed? It also asked me the same question when using the map function. However, I turned off the Location Service option in the settings as you indicated to do.

My upgrade to 2.0 took 2hrs Friday night on the 11th.

What a crock! this 2.0 update is. My phone keeps "freezing" (nothing is selectable, touch screen is dead)
and I have to turn it off to get it to work again. Plus: no MMS (I know steve, you didn't think anyone wanted that! (NOT), No camera controls, no video, no landscape typing mode for SMS, ..I really expected much more from apple!

well, you can always do what I did, and say "screw 2.0, I'm going back to 1.1.4 and jailbreak it."
Which I just finished doing. Very easy, but you need 4 things.
1) you need to uninstall iTunes 7.7 and get 7.5 installed. (before uninstalling, you might want to rename your library to "itunes backup"
2) you need the 1.1.4 firmware.
3) you will need ibrickr or liberty to kick the phone out of recovery mode
4) you will need a jailbreak tool. I used Ziphone 2.6b

there are other instructions that are more detailed here:
