Because of the generous time you have spent helping me, I have realized that the IPhone is something I AM interested in. I am picking one up probably tomorrow.
And if I have any more questions (which I am sure WILL happen) you only have yourself to blame.
I was also a bit unclear about locating a url INSIDE of one of the media players.
Is there somewhere I can go WITHIN the media players themselves (like properties or advanced..something) that would show me the actual url that I am listening to?
I can't say for the .com streams, but ooTunes can stream pretty much anything that you can stream using itunes. It can transcode too, to lower the bandwidth for listening over Edge. Check it out at http://ootunes.com
Hope that helps...

I recently was able to sit down with a friend's IPhone and play with it.
I was quite impressed. I decided to do research and perhaps buy one.
I visited three ATT stores today and walked out of each with: No answers/conflicting answers/aggravation/headache.
My simple question:
Am I able to listen to streaming audio (NHL.com, radio stations, MLB.com, etc) on an IPhone using ANY software available on (or for) the IPhone?
Can the phone be "modified"?
The conflicting explanations I received today will remain unspoken here.
If an answer is forthcoming, I thank you. If I could to be directed to relevant posts, I would be appreciative.
The ONLY thing that is keeping me from buying an IPhone TODAY is this one point.
my experience with 1.1.4 first gen is: my bf's phone can listen to streaming audio via several apps in installer 3. whatever (we're both tmo customers, & btw zipphone is *not* a safe way to jailbreak). my phone can get streams but it stops every 30 seconds or so. my bf is more persistent than me. maybe he kept trying till it worked well. he listens to streaming music. I skip it. for 3.g, maybe bigboss (sleepers.net) knows?
I too am very disappointed with streaming audio. I also want NHL.com, local radio stations that stream online, Sirius radio, etc.
If they stream through a Mac I guess I don't see why they cannot stream through the phone?
Anyhow, it is one flaw on the new phones - I subscribe to Sirius, and listen to several stations online - If I could do that via my phone - I could be laptop free forever!!
Any updates on live audio streaming for iphone 3G?
It looks like with ootunes you have to be NEAR a pc that is running the software? If that were the case I'd just stream through the computer. I was hoping to stream away from a pc - like in a coffee shop or my car etc.

Anyhow I'll keep looking....
What makes you think that? It works anywhere you have an internet connection, but you have to configure your firewall/router to open the proper port. I'm listening to my music at home from school right now with ooTunes.
I'd really like to know why you think that too, since if my webpage is misleading, I'd like to fix it
thanks
