Restore-Can't get itunes V7.2.0 to see iphone to restore

I have the yellow triangle. I downloaded the old restore file, however I can't get itunes to recognize the phone (or see it at all). I've tried holding down the home and power button, then releasing the power button, etc but it's not working.

I'm using a mac. Anyone know the exact steps to get itunes to tell me it sees a phone in restore mode? Thanks in advance.

You need minimum iTunes 7.3
