Default question about calender

ok please bare with me as this may be kind of long. i have windows vista and do not have outlook express at the moment. i will, but not at the moment. anyways when i plug my iphone into my computer and itunes reads it, i get the messege no calander regonized. now vista has a calander built in so i mean i should be able to add those dates in right? did i do something wrong, or do i need to do something. if i get outlook express, then will it regonize it? secondely is there a 3rd party calander application that someone can reccomend other than google.
thanks in advanced

Vista comes with Windows Mail which is really the latest version of Outlook Express. The calendar in Vista is just for keeping the date/time settings. Try starting Windows Mail and see if that doesn't fix things.

yes, which is one of the more useful features, since I would never know what holiday or birthday it was if it weren't for that calendar.
