What do I do when my phone goes into recovery mode if I want to keep all of my 3rd party apps on it?

I've unlocked it for Tmobile and have installed multible apps...It works great.. Then While I was using the bluetooth today something "tripped" it into the recovery mode? I read somewhere that you can somehow replace the firmware through ifuntastic without having to restore the whole phone?? IS this true?

your advice is appreciated.

I restored it and the good news is that it is still unlocked with my tmobile sim..I just had to use independence to activate it and I was all good...however I don't want to have to keep reinstalling all of the apps if one of them gets caught up and throws the device into recovery mode.
