Phone part not working

OK sort of an interesting problem. I can make calls and receive them but nothing is heard on either end. There are no sounds for text message alerts either. I had it updated to 1.1.4 yesterday and jailbroken and it the phone worked after I did that. Later this afternoon it stopped working and nothing drastic has happened to it. I just did a complete restore to factory settings with nothing changed and its still not working.

The phone still doesnt work but that I think that better explains what my problem is exactly than what I wrote up above.

Try insert your headphone until you hear noise. What did was play a really long song and kept inserting my headphones and taking them out until I heard noise.

Well the phone works if I have my headphone in. Sound and microphone. If I take the headphones out it stops working though.

When you have it out and you press one of the volume buttons, what does it say under the speakerphone thing?

it says headphones, so the phone is tricked and thinks my headphones in i take it. weird, i wonder why a restore wouldnt fix that.

A restore WOULD fix it but I only go to a restore if I can;t fix it. Keep trying the headphones trick I mentioned earlier. I can bet it'll work sooner or later.

well i did do a restore 3x and it didnt fix the problem. Ive been doing that pull in pull out thing for the last 2 minutes or so and it appears to be working now. thanks.
