im hesitant because i dont want it to update the baseband nor stop the jailbreak from working

No jailbreak here. Waiting till after 3.1 is out to see if it's still a viable option. ATT/Apple are really removing our freedoms so I wouldn't doubt a whammy on JB; expecially with the capabilities of Google Voice!

I think I am going to wait and see how this affects jailbroken iPhones before I update. Not that I've got tons of apps I can't live without but I've become a bit of a fan of GV Mobile.

So what are people on 3.1 b3 supposed to do? Wait? Downgrade? They should release another beta today as well...

On the Dev forums an apple employee stated that beta 3 contains the same security fix that is in 3.0.1.

Then you're back on 3.0 and undid any security update that came with 3.0.1....
