Default Newbie Wonders Where is My Outlook Boxes?

Just setup my 3G-S. First iPhone but I'm a mobile power user. Flash custom roms, etc. On my WinMobile phone, the POP3 boxes were separate from the naitive Outlook boxes on my machine. In other words, it synched everything in my Outlook on my PC and if I wanted to get e-mail (without an Exchange server of course) while not docked, it could pull in the e-mail from the POP3 accounts directly. However if I was docked for a few days and my PC was pulling in all the POP3 e-mail, the phone would still synch it from the PC rather than from the POP3 accounts.

It appears the iPhone read all my Outlook E-mail account mailboxes, but since I haven't given it any passwords it can't read the e-mail from the POP3 accounts. No problem. I figured it would at least read all the e-mail currently stored in my dozens of Outlook folders. But I can't find an option to browse my Outlook folders? Is the iPhone limited to only getting POP3 email ? I doubt it. Where do I go or what do I do to see the hundreds of e-mails I have sitting in my outlook email folders?

Feel like such a newbie (for the first time in a long time.)

As far as I know (and I've been wrong before) you would need an IMAP account to set up the folders.

Have you tried setting up the account as an IMAP account?

I feel stupid asking this considering years ago I was a Network Admin, but if all my Outlook mailboxes are pulling from a POP3 server, can I easily switch to IMAP? Isn't it just a matter of the server supporting it. I suppose I should just try and see what happens.

I've been searching on the net and am surprised to not see a slew of products providing an Outlook e-mail connector. Why can Itunes synch contacts and calendar but not mailboxes in Outlook? Seems like a stab an Microsoft if you ask me.

Hmmmm....

The iPhone syncs with the mailserver, not Outlook. (Except calendars/contacts).

Do you have more than one POP3 account, or just one that separates the mail into different folders after you download it?
