Default NEW... iPhone tethering on 3.1.2

Yes apparently it is back, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) you do have to jailbreak. but you do not have to pay for the app, and there is no extra setup with an adhoc... basically this app is supposed to give back the "stock" iPhone tethering options. and they claim it to be faster than PDAnet. it is an app called "MyWi", here is the link i found to read about it:

http://www.redmondpie.com/enable-tet...rmware-iln456/

Currently i am in the process now of testing this. i have been using 3.0.1 with the old ipcc file 4.0 which allowed me to have MMS and tethering on the day MMS was activated. i am now updating to 3.1.2, and then i will be JBing with blackra1n (which i have also read has been much less laggy than recent other JBs).

here is the blackra1n link:

...if this is not allowed please let me know i will remove it immediatly, i dont want to loose this whole post. i feel it is very useful and a lot of people have been waiting...

I will keep you posted on my progress...

The mobileconfigs method for enabling tethering doesn't work on 3.1.x. If you have it working on an older firmware, the toggle disappears the first time you attempt to turn it on after updating. If you want tethering, you'll have to use Pdanet, which is available in Cydia. A few people here have reported that Pdanet isn't as fast, but currently there is no other option.

I have tethering enabled on 3.0 and I also have MMS. I don't know what I am really missing by upgrading to the latest firmware version. From what I've been reading, I am NOT going to upgrade as the changes seem insignificant.

well its official. it works like the stock tethering, here is some confirmation:

as you can see i am on carrier 5.6 and i am tethering. i have an 8 day trial, after that i either buy it, or i use the new ipcc file that was created at the link above. i have not tried said ipcc file. but i may actually buy this cause i am noticing some other benefits of this app. such as ability to broadcast my "WiFi"... and more read at the link in the first post.

I love MYWi!! It is so much easier to use not to mention I can share with multiple devices if I need to.

I think I'll buy it. Is it faster than PdaNet?
