Yes it is faster, I dont have any actual numbers but when I am browsing the internet and reading email, sometimes I forget I am using my iphone's connection because I do not percive any difference in speed from my cable internet at home. I don't know the performance downloading large files. The strenght is in being able to create an access point for multiple devices. The price is a bargain too if you ask me :-)

I am looking at mywi, it says it will uninstall pdanet during its installation process. I still think Ill try it and see how it is.

I downloaded it and tried it. I like it better than PDAnet so far. It does seem faster but I have not had the chance to do any test. It said it would uninstall pdanet but it did not, initially I could not get mywi to work. Once I uninstalled pdanet everything worked great. It would be nice to have them coexist.

I will continue to test for the next 9 days to see if it is a keeper.

i agree, this is why i wanted to try it when i read about it last night. i had yet to see anything about it on EIC. im really debating just buying this, for the ability to basically be a wireless router too. i may just do a step by step for those that dont want that, and just want "stock" iphone tethering back.

I tried to use the network my iPhone created (computer-to-computer). My PowerBook connects to the network but it won't connect to the internet. What do I have to do to enable the use of the internet. I was able to tether using Bluetooth but I thought we can just use the wifi network the iPhone creates.

Did you turn on the broadcast on in mywi settings?

Yes, it's broadcasting because I connected to it on my GF's Vista laptop. Her laptop finds it as a WiFi network but my PowerBook sees it as a computer-to-computer network.

Here are the speeds my GF is getting on her laptop. It's pretty good.

I guess it's something on my PowerBook.

Ok. It's working now. I have 2 laptops connected to the network. I guess it just takes a little longer for the laptop to register the internet connection.

Here is my connection speed on my PowerBook. Pretty consistent with my GF's Vista laptop.

It does appear to be a better tether than PDAnet.

I have only played with it for a few minutes yesterday but the speeds are similar to using Safari on the phone. PDAnet was much slower.

I have to uninstall PDAnet Client on my PC and PDAnet on the phone to get MyWi to work.

If one uses this app to connect a laptop onto the AT&T network, will a charge of some fee for tethering appear on the bill or is this invisible to them?
