need help iphone beta 5 to new final release

So my buddies phone is in the purple screen to connect to itunes we need to get him on the official release of 3.0 and when he is in itunes it says he has the most recent software

we just went threw the same thing here. been using beta but itunes states running 3.0 which we were running beta.
do the following
download iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
open itunes hit shift /restore on windows pc
and loacate the above firmware where ever you downloaded it to click on it and let itunes restore phone with the above firmware.
