iPhone zoom

How does the iPhone know how to zoom in and the exact portion?

For example, if I go to ny times web edition and double tap an article, it'll zoom in perffectly to the article. Does it recognize it is in a table cell?

Just wondering as I was thinking about alll the other smartphones out there. On that note, I was also wondering why all other smartphones can't be as smoot and fluid with screen swipes and typing? Loving my 3gs now even with droid out.

I think it does it by sections cause if I double tap on a place above two columns I don't get the desired result but if I double tap inside one of the columns then presto!

As far as being smoother it is probably hardware and software related. I know the extra ram and processor speed of the 3GS made the 3G seem slow but the OS also has a part.

The page is made up of tables, when you double tap, it zooms to the cell you tapped.

It's not really a zoom, it's just the focus which makes the difference. You can take any picture then zoom in once it's taken.

Are you talking about taking pictures? The OP is asking about double tapping inside a web page.

Some of the "pros" dont know what there talking about sometimes. Just because someone has a higher post count than you doesnt mean they know more than you.
