I really hope 3.0 will have the things you mentioned and more. If it does, I don't think I'd completely part with my BlackBerry(s). Maybe if they get something going like RIM has with push email for any account and also a completely lag free OS. That'll be the day the BlackBerry goes bye-bye.
note, I had the word "maybe" in there.

It would take alot to make me get rid of the Bold. Hardware wise I still much prefer the iPhone. It's the lack of ability to run apps in the background, attach files to emails, mms, upload files to the internet, etc. that really makes me not use the iPhone as my main phone. I know you can do some of those things with jailbreaking and getting certain apps, but i want it to do it naturally, not with a workaround.

Right now I need the Bold, but I like using the iPhone more. Need necessitates me using the Bold more.

I'm sure there will be something for the touch also. Only drawback is you will probably have to pay for it. This seems to be the norm for the touch.

I really like all the neat ideas here but I do hope it has MMS. Then I could send all my iRovr pics to my non-iPhone friends who don't get email but DO use MMS.

I'd also like the ability to forward an SMS. I love the style of threaded sms the iPhone has, but you still should be able to get each message separated individually with it's own timestamp and the ability to forward it.

This is from AppleInsider

It's looking more promising

agreed. everything now is pure speculation. and that article is basing the MMS claims off of BGR. Although I like BGR as a source, they are wrong as much as anyone.

I'm excited, but I'm not going to get my hopes too high and expect the world only to be let down. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

You can do that all with Backgrounder, Swirrly MMS, BiteSMS, and SendFile. There's a few programs for uploading pics and videos, but I'm not sure about .pdf's etc.

did you not see the last part of my post that you quoted? I don't want to have to jailbreak or even use separate apps to do what every other smartphone and some dumbphones do out of the box. I've jailbroke my phone a couple times and I did not like the performance afterwards. Any other phone on the market has an option to attach files to emails through their email app. Other phones have an option to mass delete emails without having to click on every one. Or to sort by sender or search by subject for an email.

I hope 3.0 gives some of that along with MMS and background apps. Jailbreaking is not something I wish to do.

One of the alluring things to the iPhone and selling points of it was that it "just works". Well, for some things, yes. But to have to use separate apps either through the app store or jail breaking is a workaround.

I finally did JB again, mainly to get Swirly. I have found (as have others) that it lags and needed to be rebooted regularly, and Swirly is a pain to get working with AT&T. I never could get it to work. I look forward to having it native.
