yeah, however the 8gig is only $99. I've got an 8gig 1st gen now and it's only half full, most of that being music I never even listen to.....

I think regardless, this was a move by Apple to help stem the waters of the giant elephant in the room known as the Palm Pre. Sprint seems to be pushing this phone as a true, legit iPhone competitor, and lets face it, if the Pre would have come out, while the iPhone still had no MMS, Push, etc., the iPhone would look inferior in every way.

Swirly MMS (the jailbreak MMS app) is proof that V1 can do MMS. They are gonna get destroyed for blatantly lying about that whole "radio incompatibility" business.

And can someone explain to me the new home screen? Is it always that search feature or is the a drop down you get from hitting some search button? I am shocked they didn't mention the ability of being able to have more than 9 homescreens or at least categories/folders. I personally have seriously slowed down on my app store purchases since I know that I'll have to delete another app first. I'm out of room!

I'm willing to bet we see it in June. Apple is going to want it out around the time the Pre launches, if not before, and the Pre is due sometime in Q2.

agree totally with you. if there was no Pre, I'm not sure Apple would even be addressing alot of these new features.

Okay, my bet is that we'll see 3.0 and a new iPhone in June. I'd like to get both ASAP. So here's my question; I bought my V1 on July 28th, 2007, and I've never owned a 3G. Providing there will be a subsidized iPhone V3, will I be eligible for it as it's been over 18 months since that date, or will I have to wait until exactly two years later?

June is not so long to wait. I have checked out Pre news...I don't care what it can do...too small and I don't like slider phones. Can't find a good case (for my standards) for a slide phone. I still want voice dial!!

I thought V1 owners could upgrade anytime since the first Iphone was not subsidized.

i agree. i think I'm all but done with slider phones. I hate having to rig the slider on my N95 everytime it gets loose.
